Josie Proffitt Eanes, 88, formerly of Danville, Virginia, died on Saturday, January 19, 2019, in Columbia, South Carolina, after being in declining health for the past several years. Mrs. Eanes was born in Capels, West Virginia, on May 31, 1930, daughter to the late Walter C. Proffitt and the late Ella Smith Proffitt. She spent her early life in the Washington D.C. area where she worked for the F.B.I. as a fingerprint analyst until her retirement.

She then moved to the Danville area in 1973 to raise her family. In the 1990s she worked as a security guard supervisor in the Danville and Reidsville areas for over 12 years. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.

On February 6, 1968, she married Henry Pierce Eanes who died on April 29, 2001. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by sisters, Vera Thompson, Shirley Stowe, and Sylvia Burchett; and brother, W.C. Proffitt. Survivors include, Son Dwayne L. Eanes and wife Angella of Columbia, SC; and sisters, Leatha Pietron (Frank) of Pittsburgh, PA and Maxine Kennedy of Hickory, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
