Loving sister, aunt and great-aunt entered into eternal life on Sunday, March 3, 2019. Daughter of the late Leo A. and Esther C. (Kalweit) Smigiel, Joy Ann was born May 18, 1946 in Saginaw, Michigan. Joy was employed for 1 ½ years at the Saginaw County Juvenile Court and 31 years as the Secretary to the Director of the Saginaw County Dept.

of Social Services, retiring in 1995. After retirement, Joy enjoyed making cookies and wedding cakes. Surviving to cherish her memory are two brothers, Dennis and Chris Smigiel, Roger and Irene Smigiel all of Saginaw; three nephews, Derrick and Tish Smigiel, Randy and Shelli Smigiel, Rodger and Donna Smigiel; great-nieces and great- nephews, Kristin (Erich) Smit, Lauren (Jeffrey) Helene, Nicole (Tyler) Lindsey, Tiffany (Eddie) Switek, Adam Smigiel and Spencer Smigiel; great-great niece, Elie Marie Lindsey; great-great nephews, Landon Smit and Collin Switek.

Joy was preceded in death by her sister, M. Sharon Robnolte, a sister-in-law, Patricia M. Smigiel and a beloved great-nephew, Ryan Lee Smigiel. Joy and the family wish to thank and acknowledge the technicians of both Bridgeport and Esville Dialysis Centers for their compassionate treatment shown to Joy over the years. Thanks to members of St. Francis deSales Parish; Irene S., Kathy S., Rita W. and Rose R., for visits, prayer and distributing Holy Communion.

Joy’s family greatly appreciates the care given to her by the staff at Close to Home Assisted Living in Munger; Felice, Carrie, Debbie, Julie and Jennifer. Also care given by the staff of Residential Hospice was greatly appreciated. The family extends a huge thanks to Janice Cohee, a caring compassionate friend and side kick for over 50 years.

Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019 at St Francis deSales Parish, St. Christopher Catholic Church, 3945 Williamson, Saginaw. Rev. Fr.

John S. Mancini, OSFS will officiate with entombment in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd.

(between Shattuck and McCarty) where the family will be present on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Francis deSales Parish, American Kidney Association or Residential Hospice.
