Saginaw Twp. , Michigan Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at her home. Age 82 years.

The daughter of the late Stanley and Gertrude (Bruzewski) Socha, Rita was born on October 8, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Walter Szymborski on February 4, 1956. He survives her.

Rita and Walter were long time members of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, ceramics, cooking for family gatherings, reading and going to the casino. Her greatest joy in life was being with her family.

She will always be remembered for a giving heart, selfless spirit and always putting others needs before her own. Surviving besides her husband Walter are two children, Michael (Michele) Szymborski, Saginaw; Julie (Stephen) Muench, Lake Orion; five grandchildren, Mary (Tony) Bell, Michael (Meghan) Szymborski, Monica (Joseph) Barber, Andrew and Joshua Muench; six great-grandchildren, Anthony, Alivia, Mia, Ada, Aiden and Maxwell; three siblings, Jean Soltysiak, Ken (Gerri) Socha and Stanley (Mary) Socha; many nieces and nephews. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2019 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State Street.

Rev. Fr. Richard Bokinskie will officiate with entombment to follow in St. Andrew Mausoleum.

Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. , (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Saginaw County Animal Shelter.
