Obituary for Joyce Ann Burega (Sluti) Schenectady – Joyce Ann Burega, 66, of Schenectady, passed away suddenly on January 21, 2019. Born in Troy on February 27, 1952, she was the daughter of the late George and Victoria (Gonski) Sluti. Joyce’s memory lives on in her husband, Vincent Burega, her children; Anna (Jason) Gabree, Scott (Emily) Burega, Richard (Melyssa) Burega, and Kara (Daryl) Mallard, her grandchildren; Ryan Marhafer, Megan Gabree, Charlie Burega, Matthew Burega, Samuel Burega, Jordan Burega, Evan Mallard, and Bryce Mallard, and her siblings; George Sluti and Jean Rowland.
Joyce was preceded in death by her son-in-law William “Willy” Marhafer, II. Joyce worked for Northeast Savings, Fleet Bank, and Bank of America, as well as for the NYS Dept. of Health as a Health Program Administrator.
In her free time, Joyce loved trips to the beach, sightseeing at many different lighthouses, cheering on her beloved New York Yankees, and most importantly, spending time with her grandchildren who meant the world to her. Joyce’s friends and relatives are invited to a visitation on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 4 until 7 PM at Parker Bros. Memorial Funeral Home, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet.
The funeral service will be held privately.
