Joyce Prifogle, 88 of Rushville, passed away on February 15, 2019 in Shelbyville. She was born on June 11, 1930 in Connersville to the late Gifford and Freda (Reynolds) Hunt. Joyce was a 1948 graduate of Connersville High School.

She went onto Ball State receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in 1952 and receiving a Master’s Degree in 1969 for Elementary Education. Joyce married Robert K. Prifogle June 30, 1953 and he passed away on July 8, 2002. She was a teacher for 38 years in Connersville and Rushville Elementary Schools, retiring in 1992.

Joyce was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was part of the I.S.T.A, Past President of Tri Kappa Associates, and Past President of the Monday Circle. Joyce loved painting china, needle craftwork, and cats.

She was very passionate about her poetry and stories she wrote. Joyce is survived by her sons, Steven (Eleanore Kirsch) Prifogle of Wisconsin and Ted (Kim) Prifogle of Fountaintown, IN; daughter, Sue Prifogle of Rushville, IN; grandchildren, Emily (Josh Powell) Prifogle, Luke (Gabrielle) Prifogle, Adam (Amanda) Prifogle; and one great-grandson, Finn Prifogle. Joyce is preceded in death by her brother and sister.

Private Graveside Service will be held for the family of Joyce. Memorial Contributions may be made to Rushville Public Library or the Rushville Animal Shelter. Moster Mortuary is entrusted to the services.
