Karen L. Estrada, 73, died Sunday, April 15, 2018 after a three year courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born November 10, 1944 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Herbert and Lucille (Polege) Brinkman. In August of 1965, she married the love of her life, Rudy Estrada, in New Mexico.

Karen loved caring for children, and became “grandma” to many. She also enjoyed traveling and gardening with her husband and family, finding new recipes, making dips, and talking for hours over coffee. She had an affinity for St. Francis of Assisi, and embodied a love of animals.

Above all, she loved her family and cherished her time spent with them. She will be missed deeply by many, especially her husband, Rudy; children, Rudy (Erich), Kara, and Dean (Anthony); grandchildren, Chloe (Jeremy) Moore and Drake; one brother, Keith (Pat) Brinkman, his four children and their families; her pets; and countless extended family and dear friends. Her family would especially like to thank her oncologist, Dr. Adedayo Onitilo, whose treatment gave us three beautiful years with our mom/grandma.

To Karen, he was “the man”. Memorial service will take place on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. Online condolences may be expressed at www.
