Obituary for Damel R. Daugherty RICHMOND, Ind. – Damel R. Daugherty, age 89, of Richmond, Indiana, died Friday, July 13, 2018, at his home. Born April 24, 1929, in Rock Castle County, Kentucky, to Arthur and Sarah Kendrick Daugherty, Damel lived in Richmond most of his life.

He retired from Richmond Gear Works in 1985, after 27 years of service. Damel attended Victory Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling and gardening.

Survivors include his stepson, Roger Moore; granddaughters, Julia and Jessica Cooke, both of Indianapolis, Indiana; great-grandsons, Deacon, Griffin, and Grant Hitch and Maxwell McNees; sisters, Hazel Smith and Bertha Lakes, both of Richmond and Elsie Ingram of Indianapolis; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise Daugherty-Cooke; first wife, Eva Hays, who died July 19, 2015; second wife, Barbara A. Bell Daugherty, who died March 12, 2004; third wife, Patricia J. Rogers Daugherty, who died February 2, 2017; parents; and sisters, Marie Phillips and Irene Cox. Visitation for Damel R. Daugherty will be from 12:30 to 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.

Funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elkhorn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana, 1031 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
