Obituary for Doris F. Hart RICHMOND, Ind. – Doris F. Hart, age 98, of Richmond, Indiana, died Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Friends Fellowship Community. Born June 1, 1920, in Fort Recovery, Ohio, to William Clarence and Bertha Christina Portz Whitesell, Doris lived in this community most of her life.

She was a graduate of Fort Recovery High School and Anderson School of Cosmetology. Doris worked for Wilcox Photography in Union City, Indiana, before marrying Thomas Hart on April 4, 1941. They then moved to Dayton, Ohio, where she worked for Morraine Products.

In 1951, Thomas and Doris moved to Richmond and purchased State Auto Supplies. She also worked for Dr. John Barnhart, Allied Optical, and Dr. James Edsel Reeves. During her career as a hairdresser, Doris worked at Franz Heepe’s salon.

She enjoyed reading; traveling, both in and outside of the United States; and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Donna (Jean-Pierre) Hart Leitner of Richmond; grandson, Tom (Maleah) Leitner of Garrett, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Hadley Christina and Rylan Jase Leitner; nieces; nephews; and many friends, including special friend, Mary Louise Rees. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Thomas H. Hart, who died February 3, 2010; granddaughter, Christina Leitner, who died in 1992; parents; twin sister and best friend, Iris Roop; and siblings, Lela Ruff, Elda Riesen, Loyd Whitesell, and infant sister, Edra.

There will be no public services for Doris F. Hart. Entombment will be in Earlham Memorial Mausoleum. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Wayne County Foundation for the Christina Maria Danielle Leitner Scholarship Fund, 33 South 7th Street, Richmond, IN 47374. Condolences may be sent to the family via the guest book at www. doanmillsfuneralhome.com.
