Obituary for James D. Barton CENTERVILLE, Ind. – James D. Barton, age 80, of Centerville, Indiana, died Thursday, August 30, 2018, at his home. Jim was born June 9, 1938, in Richmond, Indiana, to Dr. Willoughby M. and Martha L. House Barton.

He was a 1956 graduate of Centerville High School. Jim graduated from Tri-State University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Jim was an engineer at Micro-Precision/Textron in Berne, Indiana. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, and photography. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Janet K. Flanagan Barton; son, Scott Barton of Bloomington, Indiana; daughter, Kris (Allan) Yates of Ellettsville, Indiana; sister, Ann Wiland of Richmond; sister-in-law, Shirley Flanagan of Richmond; nieces and nephews of Richmond, Centerville, Carmel, Fort Wayne, and Texas; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Calista Jane Crane; and brothers-in-law, Dr. Olin Wiland and Richard Flanagan. Special thanks go to Southern Care Hospice: Jessica, Jenna, Helen, Kisya, and Kelly and to Synergy HomeCare of Richmond: Tom, Lyndsey, Corey, Elsie, Paul and others. There will be no services for James D. Barton.

Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
