Obituary for Sara Joan Dishman RICHMOND, Ind. – Sara Joan Dishman, age 78, of Richmond, Indiana, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Reid Health. Born June 7, 1940, in New Castle, Indiana, to James M. and Merle McCoy Wood, Joan lived in Wayne County most of her life.

She worked at Wayne Works as a bus delivery driver for over 20 years. Joan was a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God, where she served in the bus ministry and children’s puppet ministry. Joan enjoyed creating craft items which she generously gave away.

Joan’s relationship with God was very important to her, and she was always helping those in need. Survivors include her daughter, Dora S. (Joe) Griffee of Connersville, Indiana; granddaughter, Skylia K. (Alex) White of Oxford, Ohio; sister, Lois Lee of Georgia; stepsister, Donna Thrasher of Indianapolis, Indiana; nieces; nephews; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Doral L. “Duke” Dishman, who died August 18, 2005; infant son, Wendel Scott Dishman; parents; sister, Sue Rector; and brother, Robert Wood.

Visitation for Sara Joan Dishman will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mooreland Cemetery in Mooreland, Indiana.
