Lavada’s Obituary Screven, Ga. Lavada Franklin Aspinwall, 76 of Screven died Wednesday, March 13, 2019 under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. The Wayne County native was a member of Screven First Baptist Church and was recently attending her home church, O’Quinn Baptist Church.

The 1960 Screven High School Graduate lettered in basketball and was the captain and most people remembered the “Franklin girls” on the court. Lavada was a lifelong worker, beginning at her first business, Screven Dry Cleaners and then helping her husband on their family farm. She was a short-term co-owner and long term employee of A and D Slaughterhouse and co-founder of Going Green Plant Nursery.

When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed fishing and gardening in her beautiful yard. She is predeceased by her husband, Jimmy Aspinwall; a daughter, Jaye Aspinwall Blanton; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Franklin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, June and Jim Jackson, Nell and Harold Delk, Winton DeLoach; Carolyn Bowden and Cynthia Starling. Survivors are a son, Greg Aspinwall of Screven; a special son-in-law, Gary (Melissa) Blanton of Screven; grandchildren, Brooks (Miki) Blanton, Brittany (Joey) Bowers and Taylor Blanton, Layne and Emma Aspinwall; great grandchildren, Tess and Blaice Blanton, Ella Jaye Bowers; a sister, Linda Faye DeLoach of Screven; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Saturday, March 16, 2019 at O’Quinn Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Greenlee and Rev. Michael Morgan officiating.

Interment will follow in Screven City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brooks and Gary Blanton, Joey Bowers, Darrell DeLoach, Eddie Fultz and Dylan Jones. Honorary pallbearers and a special thanks for the special caregivers, Brittany Bowers, Taylor Blanton, Lesleigh Beard, Sondra Grantham, staffs of Harborview Nursing Home, Hospice of South Georgia and Dr. Hendrix, Jimmy Arnold, Annette Jones, Barbara Mock, Johnny Ben Aspinwall and Marie Aspinwall.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Friday, March 15, 2019 at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd. , Jesup, Ga.
