Obituary of Lawrence Snyder Mr. Lawrence “Larry” C. Snyder, Jr. of Canajoharie, NY died peacefully on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 following a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Born In Cooperstown, NY on January 6, 1944 he was the son of the late Lawrence C. Snyder, Jr. and Elizabeth Bogardus Snyder. A lifelong area resident, Larry was a 1962 graduate of Cherry Valley High School.

He went on to attend college at Cobleskill Ag & Tech. A dedicated worker all of his life, Larry served as a district manager for several local companies Stewarts and Cumberland Farms. He was a proud member of the Cherry Valley Volunteer Fire Department for over 30 years.

On January 14, 1978 he was united in marriage to Sue Claire Van Patten Snyder. Together for 41 years, they enjoyed a wonderful full life together. Larry enjoyed camping, bowling, playing softball and golfing.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife. Sue Claire; four children, Sandi (David) Perl of Pennyan, NY, Lawrence (Jackie) Snyder III of Starkville, NY, Jim (Allison) Snyder of Richmond, VA, Scott (Cara) Snyder of Canajoharie, NY ; one sister, Beverly Jean (Raymond) Leneker of Canajoharie, NY; 17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at 12p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 774 State Highway 163, Fort Plain, NY 13339 with the Rev. David Johnson presiding. A calling hour will precede the funeral beginning at 11a.m. at the church.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will take place at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Sandflats, Fonda, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4 Pine West Plaza, Albany, NY 12205 or the Cherry Valley Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 502, Cherry Valley NY 13320.
