Mr. Lawrence “Lou” Lanier Williams, 83 of Salisbury passed away at his residence on Thursday, January 24, 2019. Lou was born August 21, 1935 in Franklin County, NC, son of the late Homer Williams and Lissie Perry Williams. Lou attended Campbell University, before transferring to the Pharmacy school at UNC-Chapel Hill.

He was a pharmacist at City Drug Company in Lexington, NC before purchasing Centerclair Nursing Home in Davidson County, where he and his wife, Ginny, owned and operated the facility for 27 years. After retiring from the nursing home, he finished his career at Center Street Pharmacy. Lou and Ginny lived in Lexington for 40 years where they were members of First Lutheran Church.

They built a house in Salisbury in 2008 and joined St. Matthews Lutheran Church where he was a member until the time of his death. Lou enjoyed spending time on High Rock Lake with family and friends. He was a huge sports fan, including UNC football and basketball, NASCAR and Panthers football.

Lou and Ginny were long time members of the UNC Rams Club. Lou Williams is survived by Geneva File Williams, his wife of 60 years, his son Bryan Williams and wife Carrie of Atlanta, GA, daughter Karen Woodall and husband Clifton of Atlanta, GA, brother Lynn Williams and wife Jean of Zebulon, NC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jay Williams, Laura Walters and husband Matthew, and by Ryan, Jason and Leia Woodall.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 27 th , 2019 from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at the St. Matthews Lutheran Church Family Life Center. The funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM at St. Matthews Lutheran Church conducted by Pastor Gary Coble. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
