Passed away surrounded by his family on February 27, 2019 at the Landmark Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Lennoth was born in Valier Illinois on September 2, 1938 to Edith Josephine (Bauman) Greenwood and John Henry Greenwood in the family home.
Shortly after his birth, they moved to the farm in Mulkeytown, Illinois where he was raised, and his love of farming took hold. He shared that farm with His older sister Phyllis and younger siblings Ronnie, Judy and Jim. Dad attended the one room school Rob Town and graduated from Christopher Community High School in Christopher Illinois in 1957.
In 1961 Lennoth met his future wife Harriet Kay Beleos at the Maid Rite in Christopher Illinois. They married on October 22, 1962 in Benton Illinois. He served two years in the army and was a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.
In 1964 Lennoth and Harriet returned to Valier after spending two years in Panama. Lennoth began his career as a Journeyman Lineman then by attending Vocational School to become a Lineman. He joined the IBEW and was a member for 45 years.
He was never happy with one job. He was a lineman and farmer his whole life. In 1987 he took a job with Associated Electric and moved his family to Anabel where he purchased what used to be the Rael Long farm where he lived at the time of his death.
In 1993 he took a job with Meyer Electric of Jefferson City Missouri, and spent the next 18 years traveling as a Foreman, Journeyman Lineman. He worked on many storm breaks and enjoyed every minute of it. His last storm break was Hurricane Gustav; in Louisiana, 2008.
In 2009 he decided to retire full time from being a Journeyman. He loved to talk and tell of his many happenings in life’s journey. He never met a stranger and loved his cell phone and said he personally made AT&T who they were.
He had many friends and lot of stories to tell. He liked to read and study the Bible and liked to visit with friends and discuss politics especially with his friend Winnie. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church south east of Macon and a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
He is survived his wife; Harriet Kay Beleos Greenwood of 56 years. His oldest son Lennoth Eric Greenwood and his wife Patty Greenwood of Macon, Aaron Scott Greenwood, Anabel, John Manning Greenwood and wife Melissa Greenwood, Anabel, Josh Brandon Greenwood and wife Jennifer Greenwood, Anabel. He loved his grandchildren and they brought joy to his life.
They are, Danita Dianne Evans & Mark Evans, Nathaniel James Spurgeon & Angela Spurgeon, Nekoda James Greenwood & Kaijah Dehning, Jesse Duane Greenwood & Hanna Baggos, Jasmine Marie Greenwood & Logan Bergfield, Audrey Kay Greenwood, Gillian Grace Greenwood, John Brennan Greenwood, Jadi Lynn Greenwood and Bradley Manning Greenwood. His great grandchildren were an extra special blessing and they are Cicely Riile Spurgeon, Angela Spurgeon, Joshua Mark Evans, Emmie Lou Greenwood, Carter James Wehner, Abraham Dehning, Ariella Faith Spurgeon, Gabe Spurgeon, Sophia Rose Evans, Maria Grace Evans, Gracie Mae Greenwood, Henry Duane Greenwood and Patricia Ann Evans. In laws are Carol Beleos, Macon, Janet and Richard Shockley, Mulkeytown Illinois and Ruth Ann Beleos, Valier Illinois.
Lennoth is survived by his sister Phyllis Hays-Payne of West Frankfort Illinois, his sister in law Alice Greenwood of Benton Illinois and nieces Robyn Snow, Amy Melser, Lori Touchette, Julie McGuire, and nephews Kevin Greenwood, Andrew Huggins and Travis Greenwood. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his great grandson Liam Briar Greenwood, his oldest son, Duane Greenwood, his brother Ronnie Neal Greenwood, his sister Judy Diane Huggins and his brother in law Wayne Huggins and his niece, Cindy Rae Sninderwin. His wishes were to be cremated with no burial or funeral.
There will be a Celebration of Life at the Friendship Baptist Church southeast of Macon, Missouri on Saturday March 30 from 1-4pm. There will be sandwiches, finger foods, deserts, coffee, tea and punch served in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to the Friendship Baptist Church.
