Leonar Harri Windon , January 17, 1948 — February 22, 2019

Leonard Harris Windon, 89, of Jane Lew departed this life on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was born on June 19, 1929 in Harrison County to the late Charles Foreman Windon and Lena Magdalene Carter Windon. On January 17, 1948, he married the love of his life, Martha Francis Wagner.

Together they shared just over 71 wonderful years of marriage, and she will miss him immensely. Leonard is survived by his wife, Martha Windon; three sons: Ronnie Windon and his wife, Pam, of Ocala, FL, Bradley Windon and his wife, Christine, of Montgomery, AL, and Richard Windon and his wife, Mary, of Morgantown, WV; four grandchildren: Anita Baxter and her husband, Jeff, of Ross Park, PA, Doug Windon and his wife, Vicki, of Butler, PA, Katrina Windon of Fayetteville, AR, and Neil Windon, of Montgomery, AL; five great grandchildren; and one sister, Peggy Bright and her husband, Bud, of Hilton Head, SC. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Maxine Southern Smith and one brother, Charles Windon.

Leonard graduated from Unidis High School in 1947. He worked at Allman Brothers Grocery Store in Staley until he went to work for Monongahela Power in 1960, from which he retired in 1991. Together he and Martha loved to camp and spent more than thirty years as members of the Country Roads RV Club.

He ventured all over the East Coast but especially loved to visit Myrtle Beach, SC. He was also a member of the Jane Lew Lions Club for many years. Per Leonard’s request, there will be no celebration of life.
