Obituary for Leopolda Paula Matziol Leopolda Paula Matziol, longtime resident of Clinton Township, died peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on November 9, 2018. She was 90 years of age. Leopolda was born in Pruszkow, Poland on October 4, 1928, daughter of the late Michael and Otillia (Lietke) Tonn.

She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Ernst Matziol, on April 26, 1952. The couple resided in Detroit until making their home in Clinton Township in 1972. Their union was blessed with two delightful children of whom they loved and cherished.

The couple owned and operated The Smoke House of Eastpointe for 40 years, retiring in 1994. Leopolda was known for her delicious cooking. She also looked forward to the summer months, tending to her garden.

Paula loved the Lord and it was by her faith that led her through the path of life. She was an avid bible reader and enjoyed listening to christian talk radio daily. Above all, she loved her family.

Leopolda will be deeply missed. Leopolda is the loving wife of the late Ernst; dearest mother of Karen (Matthew) Williams and the late Paul Matziol; cherished grandmother of Zeva and Sean Williams. Visitation will be held at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Wednesday 4pm – 8pm, Thursday 4pm – 8pm and Friday 10am until the time of service at 11am with Rev.
