Obituary for Klaus Menzel Klaus Menzel, a longtime resident of St. Clair Shores, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Thursday, September 27, 2018. He was 81 years old. Klaus was born on August 4, 1937 in Kupferberg, Germany to Paul and Waltraud (nee Doering) Menzel.

He was sponsored by his aunt Elfriede Kasper to come to the United States in 1958. Klaus worked for over 36 years as a tool and die inspector for General Motors. Outside of his work, he enjoyed flying Cessna airplanes, skiing, playing cards, and boating.

In his retirement, he especially liked traveling and staying active. He was a proud member of the Carpathia Club. Klaus will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Klaus is the beloved father of Walter (Michelle) Menzel and Mark Mezel; cherished grandfather of Amanda, Cecelia, Nikolai, Mason, and Madison; loving brother of Horst Menzel and Jutta (Manfred) Nitsche; uncle of Carmen Nitsche; and nephew of Elfriede Kasper. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Norman Nitsche. A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 1-4pm with a memorial service at 4pm at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Road, Fraser, Michigan 48026.
