James was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 17, 1940, son of the late Isadore and Margaret (Nowak) Shereda.

He was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Barbara Ann Czajka, on April 29, 1961 in St. Raymond Catholic Church in Detroit. The couple lived in Detroit until making their home in Fraser in 1963. The couple was blessed with four beautiful children of whom he loved and cherished.

To know James was to love him. He understood the true value of friendship and extended his love and help whenever needed. James enjoyed traveling with his wife and looked forward to the next cruise.
