Obituary for Lewis Kent Harper Lewis “Kent” Harper, 71, long time resident of Muskogee, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, July 13, 2018. He was born March 6, 1947 in Ogden, Utah to Lewis Harper and Virginia Gayle (Oberhansley) Harper. He grew up and attended school in Ogden, graduating from Bonneville High School with the Class of 1965.

Shortly after graduation, Kent enlisted with the U.S. Navy. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War; later receiving an Honorable Discharge. On December 5, 1971 he married the love of his life, Sheryl Lynn Scarberry, at the Moffett Air Force Base Chapel in Mountain View, California.

Together they’ve shared almost 47 years of life and marriage together. Kent learned at an early age that he loved working with his hands. Everyone that knew him will always remember him as someone who could fix anything.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Dana Hunter and Donn Stoddard. Kent is survived by his wife, Sheryl of the home; sons, Zack Harper and wife Joi, Sam Harper and wife Sharon, and Jeff Pearce and wife Donna; grandchildren, Dylan Harper, Nikolas Harper, Logan Harper, Gabe Davison, Trae Davison, Laela Davison, Kristina Harper, Katy Harper, James David Harper, Devyn Harper, Joshua Pearce and wife Aline, Kyle Pearce and wife Natasha, and Marissa Pearce; great grandchildren, Abigail, Ella and Aubrey; sister, Dr. Viki (Harper) Anderson of California; numerous other family members and friends. A celebration of Kent’s life will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Committal Shelter of Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Bishop Chris Emler officiating.

Military honors will be presented. Kent’s family suggests in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to The Barracks, 4717 W. Okmulgee Avenue, Muskogee, OK or online at okbarracks.org. Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home and Crematory, 1830 N. York Street, Muskogee, OK.
