Liggett Daniel Mercer, 81, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. Daniel was born in Depoy, Kentucky on September 20, 1936 to the late Ligart and Marie (Hendricks) Mercer. He retired from Whirlpool in 2002 after 45 years of service.

Daniel also worked as concrete finisher during the day for 21 years. He never met a stranger and loved his family dearly. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great great-grandfather.

… Read More » Daniel is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jacqueline “Jackie” Mercer of Newburgh, IN, daughters, Deb Long of Newburgh, IN, Cindy Johnson (Ja) of Evansville, IN, and Lisa Long (Jeff) of Newburgh, IN; son, Scott Mercer (Cindy) of Evansville, IN; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers, Granville and Ray. A sharing of memories service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave.

, Evansville, IN 47711. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home on Saturday.
