Linda Lou (Roberts) Young, 68, of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. Linda was born in Mt.

Vernon, Indiana on February 23, 1950 to the late Charles Dwight and Iola (Burlison) Roberts. She worked for Babcock and Wilcox and later at Century 21 Don Lee Realty. Linda was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Mt.

She was a volunteer for Willard Library and led the 1980 Posey County Census. She led the program “Dungeon Treasures” which restored and organized many of the historical records in the Posey County Courthouse and worked with Charles Browning on the Browning Genealogy project.

Linda had a big heart and loved helping people. She selflessly started “Linda’s Free Stuff,” a mission that helped many of the Tri-State residents, providing clothing, furniture and many other items to people in need. Linda loved her family dearly and was loved by the many people she helped in her community.

Linda is survived by her husband of 48 years, Thomas Young of Mt. Vernon, IN; daughters, Susan White (George) of Mt. Vernon, IN and Rhonda Jones of Madisonville, KY; son, Brian Young (Melonie) of Newburgh, IN; sister, Mary Keown of Evansville, IN; brothers, Stanley Roberts and Donald Roberts both of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Crystal White, Thomas White, Kristen Greulich (Ben), Dax Young, Trent Jones (Shelby), Hannah Jones, Taylor Jones, and Jeffrey Foster (Olivia); six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Pamela Young; sister, Janet Stevens; and brother, Charles “Wayne” Roberts. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave. , Evansville, IN 47711 with President Bernie Gerth officiating.

Burial will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home and again from 10:00 AM until service time on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for final expenses.
