Mary A. Simpson, 85, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in the company of her sons, Randy and John. Mary was born in Providence, Kentucky on November 5, 1932 to the late Francis and Stella Turley. She retired from St. Mary’s Hospital in 1966 where she worked as an Obstetrics Technician in the delivery room.

Mary was excited to share the number of children she brought into the world every night upon her return home. After her career… Read More » at the hospital she became a home maker. Mary enjoyed gardening and was a compassionate caregiver to the elderly in her neighborhood.

Mary is survived by her sons, Randy Simpson and his wife, Penny of Sharpsville, IN, and John Simpson and his wife Pam, who cared for Mary, of Evansville, IN; and by her step-grandchildren, Jason and Shawn DeBose, Alyssa Hary and Lieutenant Nick Bailey. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Bobbie “Shorty” Simpson; her parents; sisters, Katherine and Ina; and by brothers, Hershel and Delmar. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave.

, Evansville, IN 47711. Private entombment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until service time on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Browning Funeral Home.
