Obituary for Lolita Jones Douglas Mrs. Lolita Jones Douglas was born June 15, 1935 to Joseph L. Jones Sr. and Grace S. Jones. She was the loving sister of the late Joseph L. Jones Jr, Lloyd C. Jones, Lorraine Jones Caffery, and Lystra B. Jones. Mrs. Lolita Jones was the mother of the late John E. Jones and Lenora E. Anderson.

God safely took Lolita from this life on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Tawaskie Anderson (Ebara), Tristian Anderson (Wendy), Trina Anderson, Te’Jeanne Anderson, Arianne Jones, one sister-in-law, Harriet G. Jones and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends. She was affectionately known as “GaGa” by her 12 great-grandchildren; Aaron, Acai’, Ache’, Asia, Darryl, (late) DeJean, Devonte, Isaiah, Jarreau, Joseph, Rylee, and Warren and by her 2 great-great grandchildren; Joel and Rahmell.

Lolita was a graduate of Joseph S. Clark High School, Southern University, Dillard University, and LSU. She pursued a long and fulfilling career in teaching. She was a dedicated educator for Orleans Parish Schools for over 40 years.

She taught for most of her career at Nelson Elementary School where she touched many generations of students in the community in which she lived. Lolita will be remembered for her devotion to God, her family, and for her love for teaching children. She found the most joy in her services to the Lord.

Serving the Lord and helping others was her life passion. She was ordained as a Bishop and was a member of St. Daniel Spiritual Church of New Orleans where she also served as pastor for many years. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Service at D.W. Rhodes Chapel, 3933 Washington Ave.
