Obituary for Loraine F Mitchell Loraine Mitchell of Rochester was called to her heavenly home on May 8, 2018 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. She handled her last few months of life like she handled everything, with courage, humor, and a strong faith in God. Loraine Frances Turek was born on Dec.
5, 1927 to Joseph F. and Paulyne J. (Novak) Turek at home in Cicero, IL during a blizzard. As a child she divided her time between Cicero and Tower Lakes, IL. She married Harold Mitchell on June 4, 1949.
She loved life and enjoyed volunteering at her church and was involved in the ministry of knitting prayer shawls and greeting on Sundays, and at Mayo Clinic where she logged over 3400 hours donating her time in a variety of areas. She enjoyed traveling and sharing her experiences and adventures. She will be dearly missed by many.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann (Robert) Anderson of Rochester; her sister Paulyne Lepsi of Arizona, and her beloved grand-dog Jazzy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold, and daughter Karen. Visitation will be at Mahn Family Funeral Home – Rochester Chapel from 3:00 – 5:00 pm on Sunday, May 13.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Monday, May 14, 2018 at Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church with Rev. Shawn Haremza officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service on Monday at the church, and a reception will be held following the service.
Burial will be Wednesday May 16 at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL. A brief visitation will be held at Conboy’s Westchester Funeral Home in Westchester, IL at 10:00 am prior to the graveside service. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Mayo Hospice in Rochester, MN.
