Lorene Benton Allison April 04, 1924 – January 17, 2019 Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Lorene Allison Gaffney, SC – Lorene Benton Allison, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Cherokee Medical Center in Gaffney. Born in Gaffney, SC, she was the widow of the late William G. “Bill” Allison and daughter of the late William Alexander Benton and Mallie Burgess Benton. Retired from Peeler’s Printing, she was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and crafting.
She also liked to cook, bake and work in her garden, from which she shared vegetables with her neighbors, and she always enjoyed growing beautiful flowers. She had a great love for her family and friends. She loved the Lord, was of the Baptist faith and a long time member and faithful servant at Faith Baptist Church in Gaffney.
She had, as of the last two years, attended Camps Creek Baptist Church, Mooresboro, NC and Abingdon Creek Baptist Church, Gaffney, SC where she enjoyed her Sunday School classes and the fellowship of the kind people of those churches. Surviving are a daughter, Becky Powell and husband, Ricky of Mooresboro, NC, a son, Steve Allison and wife, Anita of Gaffney, two grandsons, Bryan Powell and wife, Jaime of Mooresboro, NC and Jesse Powell and wife Raelynn of Shelby, NC, two great grandsons, Waylan Powell and Will Powell, one sister in law, Martha Allison Lemmons and husband, Sidney of Gaffney, SC and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents Mrs. Allison was preceded in death by an infant son and four brothers, Brady Benton, Walter Benton, Donald Benton and Kenneth Benton.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and assistants at Cherokee Medical Center and those from Hospice Compassus for their excellent and compassionate care of their loved one, Mrs. Allison, during her lengthy stay and final days. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Faith Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM at the Church with Rev.
Mike Wood, Dr. Danny Bright and Rev. Buddy Morehead officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Frederick Memorial Gardens.
