Louis’ Obituary Funeral services with a Rosary Service for Louis B. Mayhall, Jr. will be Monday, January 28, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Melancon Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Scott Chemino, V.G. officiating. Burial will be at a later date under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 2 p.m. – 9 p.m. Mr. Mayhall, age 84, of Goudeau, passed away at his home on Friday, January 25, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. He was a retired Avoyelles Parish school bus driver with over twenty-six years of riding the roads of Avoyelles Parish to make sure that his students got an education! He was a life-long farmer, hunter and fisherman.

He was very active in the St. Charles Catholic in Goudeau and was instrumental in organizing Fire District #13 in 1983. He was a member of the fire department and served as Fire Chief for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-two years, Beverly Joffrion Mayhall and his parents, Aline Goudeau Mayhall and Louis B. Mayhall, Sr

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Mayhall of Castalia, NC and Goudeau; his two sons, Louis Gregory Mayhall and wife, Gwen, of Big Cane and Eddie Mayhall and wife, Amy, of Evergreen; his daughter, Pam Mayhall Smith and husband, Jamie, of Basile; his sister, Carolyn Mayhall Simms and husband, Pat, of Pineville; two step-sons, Frankie Steed and wife, Melody, of North Carolina and Harlen Steed and wife, Lisa, of North Carolina; one step-daughter, Tonja Philbeck and husband, Tray, of North Carolina; eight grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.
