Louis Mele Jr, April 05, 1935 — March 24, 2019

Louis’ Obituary Louis Mele, Jr., of Perkasie, PA, passed away Sunday, March 24, 2019, at the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA. He was 83. He was the husband of 54 years of the late Elizabeth “Betty” (Steinly) Mele until her passing on April 3, 2008.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Louis and Rachele (Prezioso) Mele. He served in the U. S. Army Reserves for a number years until being honorably discharged in 1962. Lou, along with his wife Betty, owned and operated the M & S Oil Company and J. C. Steinly, Inc., Perkasie.

He was a member of the Perkasie Order of the Owl’s Nest and the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 1539, Sellersville, PA. Lou had a love for fast cars and fast boats.

He was especially fond of spending time at his home on Lake Wallenpaupack as well as taking fishing trips to Canada. He is survived by two sons, L. Gregory Mele, of Florida, and Randy S. Mele and his wife Lori, of Perkasie; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Vera Waldspurger and Ellen DiBartola.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road #100, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004, or to St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 N. Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960. Arrangements are by the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie.
