Obituary for Louise M. Srinivasan “The only thing of importance, when we depart, will be the traces of love we have left behind”. ― Albert Schweitzer Louise (née Hackbarth) Srinivasan, 80, of Yonkers, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 8, 2018 after a short illness. Louise was born on October 29, 1937 in Bethlehem, PA, and spent her childhood years in southern Germany, where she and her family were able to survive the war.

After attending high school and vocational school there, she returned to the United States. There, she met and married Stanislaw Szybalski with whom she had a daughter, Eva Szybalski. Louise’s career was as a lab technician, doing biomedical and pharmaceutical research at Columbia University, NY, Rutgers University, NJ, and Perkin Elmer, Germany, and Bayer, NY.

From 1971 through 1986, Louise returned to live in Überlingen, Germany on Lake Constance. In 1986 she returned to the United States, where she resided in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY until 2013. During this time, she met and married her second husband, P.R. Srinivasan, Her final years were spent in Yonkers, NY.

In both homes she enjoyed the view of the Hudson River. Louise’s warm and kind personality made her many friends over the years, both in Europe and the United States. She loved the arts and in her later years, became active in painting and craft projects and perfected her artistic skills with the use of an iPad and printer.

Louise’s second husband, P. R. Srinivasan , predeceased her in 2012. She leaves behind, to cherish her memory, her loving daughter, Eva Szybalski, of Berlin, Germany, as well as beloved stepchildren, Gita Srinivasan of Bangalore and André Srinivasan of San Francisco. Louise will be cremated and two memorial services will be held.

On Friday, November 9, 2018, a private service will take place for her immediate family. On Sunday, November 11 at 2:00 PM, her friends are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life for Louise at the Five Star Premier Residences on Riverdale Ave, Yonkers. In lieu of flowers, donations to charities of your choice in honor of Louise are appreciated.
