Lydia I. Edwards, age 93, of Erwin, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at Unicoi County Hospital. A native of Poplar, NC, Lydia is a daughter of the late Martin Amos and Cora (Miller) Presnell. She was of the Free Will Baptist Faith and she enjoyed gardening and flowers.

In addition to her parents, Lydia is preceded in death by: husband of 44 years, Walter Jack Edwards; 4 brothers: Frank, Howard, Hyder and Ed; 3 sisters: Bertha, Violet and Von; special sister-in-law: Neive Presnell. Lydia I. Edwards leaves behind to cherish her memory: Sons: Mike Edwards and wife, Bunny, Doug Edwards and wife, Joy, Dorsey Keith Edwards; Grandchildren: Anthony Edwards and wife, Robyn, David Edwards and wife, Melissa, Jamie Edwards, Sandra Butts and husband, David, Diane Hartness and husband, Bradley, Gaynell Hughes and husband, Nick; 15 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; Sisters: Ruby Phillips, Betty Barnett; Several nieces and nephews. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Lydia I. Edwards in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home.

Reverend Stanley McMahan will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and continue until service time on Tuesday. A committal service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 in Evergreen Cemetery.

Reverend Kevin Laws will officiate. Those attending will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 12:30 to go in procession. Serving as pallbearers will be Lydia’s grandsons and great-grandsons.
