Obituary for Margie Petty Funeral services for Margie Petty, 95, of Gilmer will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 1, 2018 in the chapel at McWhorter Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Kessler and Bro. Wayne Norvell officiating.

Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Margie was born on July 12, 1923 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Willie Pate and Berdie Phillips Russell and passed form this life on September 27, 2018 in Gilmer, Texas.

On July 12, 1941 Margie married Buford Petty in the home of Rev. & Mrs. Obie Baker. They were happily married for 76 years before his passing in October of 2017.

She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Gilmer and taught the Alathea Sunday School Class for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband; Buford Petty, parents and sister; Grace McChesney Croxdale. Survivors include her son; Charles Ronald Petty and his wife Kathryn; daughter; Sharon Petty Putman and her husband Toney, 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Roger McChesney, Jim McChesney, Tim Croxdale, Beau Croxdale, Tim Taylor and Ken Crews. Honorary pallbearer will be Randy Rhodes. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Traditions Hospice.
