Obituary for Jerry Steger Funeral services for Jerry Steger, 79, of Gilmer will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2018 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Matthew Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Soules Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at McWhorter Funeral Home. Jerry was born on July 13, 1939 in Magnolia, Arkansas to M. J. Steger and Mildred Fennell Steger and passed from this life on October 28, 2018 in Longview, Texas. Jerry married Linda Starks July 3, 1959 at the Bettie United Methodist Church.

He worked in the maintenance department at Texas Eastman for 35 years until his retirement. He also worked at B & S Hardware for the last several years where he made many friends in the lawnmower and chainsaw parts department. Jerry is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda Steger; daughter, Diane Chevalier and her husband David; sons, David Steger and his wife Cindy and Chris Steger; brother, Harry Steger; mother in law, Ruby Starks.

He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; Amy McKee, Dillon Chevalier, Wayne Mullanix, Casie Mullanix, Tyler Steger and Makenna Steger, and 4 great grandchildren; Logan and Landry McKee and Austin and Charlotte Mullanix. Pallbearers will be Barry Lindsey, Josh Cato, Alan Metzel, Jeff Jones, Bob Lansdale, and Dwight Brannon. Please visit Jerry’s on-line registration book at www.
