Obituary for Mr. William Red Smith Jr. Celebration of life for William “Red” Smith , 74, of Gilmer will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018 at McWhorter Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends at this time. Red was born January 27, 1944 in Gilmer, Texas to William Henry Smith Sr. and Grace Holland Smith.

Red passed away Monday, September 3, 2018 at home surrounded by family. Red worked at Lone Star Steel as a welder for 39 years before retiring. He was a member of Avinger Hickory Lodge # 156 AF & AM.

He was also a member of Gilmer Bethesda Lodge #142 AF & AM. He is preceded in death by his Parents and his sister : Goldie Smith. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Kay Fielden Smith; Daughter and son-in-law Amy and Lonnie Tarrant, sister: Eva Lansdale, brother: Elwin Smith, Granddaughter: Shelby Tarrant: Grandson: Jacob Tarrant and Megan Cox, and great grandson Kaden Lee Tarrant.
