Yochem, 82, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Friday, January 25, 2019, at DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center. She was born June 17, 1936, in Berwyn, Illinois, the daughter of Roy and Gertrude (Berger) Blomberg, Marilyn married George A. Yochem on November 28, 1953 in Chicago. Marilyn worked in Chicago when she and George were first married taking the train from Berwyn.

She later worked for Jolly’s Toggery as a bookkeeper and then at First National Bank as a teller. Marilyn was a member of First Lutheran Church in DeKalb. She was an avid sports fan and loved the Cubs, Bulls, and the Bears.

She enjoyed traveling to Door County in Wisconsin every year. She is survived by her children, Debbie (Martin Pearson) Prellwitz of Sycamore, James (Jennifer) Yochem of DeKalb; grandchildren, Matt (Krissi) Prellwitz of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, Ryan Prellwitz of West Palm Beach, Florida, Ben (Bridget) Yochem of DeKalb, Katie Yochem of Atlanta, Georgia, great-grandchildren, Everett, Griffin, and Grey Yochem, sister-in-law, Nancy Neal of San Marcos, California, and nieces, Patti Snelleman of Denver, Colorado, Jill (Stuart) Seymour of San Marcos, California; and nephew, Mike (Andi) Stephens of Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 2014.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb with the Rev. Dr. Janet Hunt of First Lutheran Church in DeKalb officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 1 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Marilyn J.
