Obituary for Marion Joyce (Smith) Hathaway Beloved wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, Marion Joyce (Smith) Hathaway, age 89, passed away in Jefferson, Texas on July 8, 2018. She was born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota to Clem and Agnes (Powers) Smith. On December 5, 1947, she married the love of her life, James Gray Hathaway and they were married for 69 years.

Marion was a former employee of Itasca Memorial Hospital in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and James was a former salesman for Sears in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2016. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Clem and Agnes Smith; her brother, Clem “Sonny” Smith; and her sister, Beverly Liila.

Marion is survived by her children, Susan Ann Fideldy of Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, James Mark Hathaway and his wife, Beverly of Paris, Texas and Lenard Gray Hathaway and his wife, Alicia of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, whom she adored, Charlotte Owens of White Oak, Texas, Heather Williams of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Kevin Fideldy of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; seven great-grandchildren and her sisters-in-law, Betty Pipkin of Bossier City, Louisiana and Joyce Smith of Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Marion loved animals, all animals, but she was especially fond of cats.

She loved her family and spending time with them and will be deeply missed by all who were blessed by her life. Memorial Service for Marion will be held at Meadowbrook Funeral Home, 1804 S. Washington Street, Marshall, Texas 75670 on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at 3:30pm with Chaplain David Reeder officiating. She will be interred next to her beloved husband at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana.
