Obituary for Eva Juanita “Dee” Friend Dee Friend passed away into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 21, 2018. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Meadowbrook Funeral Home in Marshall on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 2:30pm. Visitation will be held prior to the Memorial Service on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 1:30pm-2:30pm.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Hartsell, Josh Hartsell, Michael Shane Hartsell, Michael Don Hicks, Charles Brown III, Jeremy Hartsell, Jacob Hartsell, Jarratt Perkins, Heath Compti, Kevin Hartsell and Chad Hartsell. Dee was born on October 27, 1926 in Mineola, Texas to Eva and Claude Hill, but lived in Marshall, Texas her entire ninety-one years. Dee was a Master Seamstress, working at one time for a fashion designer and then opening her own company, Dee’s Draperies, in Marshall in the nineteen sixties.

It was not uncommon for her children to fall asleep at night to the whir of her Singer sewing machine as she sewed for her family as well. She loved fishing on Caddo Lake and nature in general. She always had bird feeders hanging outside of the windows of her home.

Dee is survived by her children: Charlotte Courtney of Hallsville, Pierre Hartsell (Margaret) of Avinger, Jeannie Hartsell of Marshall, Jeff Hartsell (Teresa) of Marshall and Suzanne Peyton of Shreveport, Louisiana. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Christi Gibbs, Bubba Brown, Jennifer McQueen, Tessa Lefler, Jeremy Hartsell, Jacob Hartsell, Heath Compti, Michael Hicks, Lisa Crawford, Jeffrey Hartsell, Josh Hartsell, Shane Hartsell, Shannon Bunch, Jarratt Perkins, Kevin Hartsell, Krystle Hartsell, and Chad Hartsell and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents Eva and Claude Hill, her sister Margie Alaman, her son Jason Hartsell and grandson Justin Hartsell.
