Obituary for Nell Parker Beloved wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother and friend of many, Nell Parker, age 87, passed into the arms of her Lord on Saturday, September 15, 2018 surrounded by her family. Nell was born on July 6, 1931 in Marshall, Texas to Willie Leon and Frances Ellen Drew. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 63 years, William Eldridge “Bud” Parker; her parents, Willie Leon and Frances Ellen Drew; her nephew, Bobby Steven Drew and her siblings, Albert Drew, Alberta Martin, Joseph Drew, Bobby Drew, Dorothy Thomas and Betty Morris.

Nell is survived by her two precious daughters, Sharon Minter and her husband, Wayne and Brenda Sallee and her husband, Al; her grandchildren, John Minter and his wife, Lorie, Brent Minter and his wife, Nikki, Cody Sallee and his wife, Carol Ann; her great-grandchildren, McKenzie Minter, Laney Minter, Abbey Minter, Allen Sallee and Makayla Sallee. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends who were blessed by her friendship. Nell loved her Lord and was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church for 29 years.

She loved to travel with friends and family, loved to cook and was always in high demand for her chicken and dumplings. She loved to bake cookies with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and knew exactly which was the favorite for each child. Her grandchildren were her true passion in life.

Nell loved unconditionally and equally and had the most wonderful sense of humor, even at the end of her illness. Her life was well lived and she was well loved by her family and friends. She worked at Blue Buckle for many years, sold insurance for Sullivan Funeral Home, made draperies for Sears, eventually opening her own business with her daughter, Brenda where they made custom, beautiful drapes for over 40 years.

Visitation will be held at Meadowbrook Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 6pm-8pm. Funeral Service will be held at Meadowbrook Funeral Home on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at 10:00am with Bro. Carlton Burris officiating.

Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband. Pallbearers will be John Minter, Brent Minter, Cody Sallee, Allen Sallee, Galen Thomas and Reggie Cornelius. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Rangu and Dr. Nirmal for the wonderful care they gave to Nell during her illness.
