Obituary for Oliver Roger Burleyson Sr. Oliver Roger Burleyson, Sr., age 85, passed away in Marshall, Texas on Saturday, November 17, 2018. Roger was born on March 7, 1933 in Houston, Texas to Oliver and Laura Lee (Roger) Burleyson. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Jewell Madelyn Burleyson.

He is survived by his son, Oliver Roger Burleyson, Jr.; his grand-daughters, Julie Anne Halbert and her husband, Golden and Delaney Burleyson; his great-grandchildren, Harli Allison, Golden D. Halbert, Jewell N. Halbert and another great-grandchild due in April, 2019. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Judy Wheeler; his brothers, James Lee “Jimme” Burleyson and Charles Robert Burleyson; numerous step-children, step-grandchildren, other family members and many friends who were blessed by his life. Roger proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

He was a known workaholic who had many talents. He taught himself how to sew and made many beautiful items in leather. He could do anything!

He could build anything. He built his home in Karnack and fished in Caddo Lake many years until he started falling out of the boat. He served on the Board of Directors of Andrews Cemetery and the Caddo Lake Water Department.

He was a longtime, devoted member of the Church of Uncertain which he and his son built. He was an electrical contractor for Sabine Mining and was the manager of the Uncertain Flea Market. Roger’s life was well lived, he was well loved and he will be deeply missed.

Visitation for Roger will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 from 9am until Noon at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. Graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 2:00pm at Andrews Cemetery with Bro. Joe Chisum officiating.
