Obituary for Robert Louis Boyd Robert Louis Boyd, affectionately known as “Coach Bob”, passed away in Shreveport, LA on August 26, 2018 at the age of 77. Coach Bob was born on October 21, 1940 in Hearne, Texas to Allen William and Elizabeth Julia Boyd. He graduated in 1958 from Burnet High School in Burnet, Texas.

After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country for 25 years, serving two tours of duty in the Vietnam Way before retiring as Chief. He was one of the first officers to serve aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower during his enlistment. After his retirement, he worked for 10 more years in U.S. Customs Border Patrol in El Paso, Texas before retiring permanently and settling in Marshall, Texas.

Coach Bob was a football coach in Little League for over 15 years and was passionate about those children and his coaching duties. He was a kind hearted man who will be deeply missed by all who were blessed by his coaching and friendship. Preceding Coach Bob in death are his parents, Allen and Elizabeth Boyd; his brothers, Dr. William Boyd, Jackie Boyd and Doug Boyd; and his niece, Beverley Jean Boyd.

Surviving him is the love of his life, his common law wife of 11 years, Lisa Latham and her children, Jordan Williams, Jayden Williams and Jaylan Williams; one brother, Sidney Jo Boyd; one sister, Dixie Boyd; several nieces, nephews, numerous other family members and many friends. Visitation for Coach Bob will be held at Meadowbrook Funeral Home on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 5pm-6pm. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 6:00pm on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Meadowbrook Funeral Home with Bro.
