Obituary for Penelope Harris Jones Penelope was born March 21, 1939 in Marshall, Texas to James S. and Kittie (Keasler) Harris and entered eternal life with the Lord on October 10, 2018 at the age of 79. Penelope attended Marshall schools. She married Charles William Jones on May 28, 1960 in Marshall, Texas and was a homemaker.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching horse racing and football. Penelope had a passion for caring for all animals (llamas, donkeys, dogs, cats, whatever came her way! ) and especially her beloved horses.

To make sure animals are taken care of and have a loving home until adoption, she donated the land for the current Humane Society of Harrison County (The Pet Place). Penelope was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by daughter, Kitty Richardson and her husband, Chris of Sherman, Texas; daughter, Deidra Gager of Victorville, California; daughter, Pamela Jones of Marshall, Texas; and son, James Harris Jones of Austin, Texas.

Grandchildren include Katy Gager Dickey, and her husband, Tyler, and their sons, Teddy and Nathan of Dallas, Texas; Laura Gager of Houston, Texas; Elora Richardson Moore and her husband, Trent of Fort Worth, Texas; and Collin Richardson of Sherman, Texas. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Wanda Alexander and Peggy Shepard for their care and compassion for Penelope and her family. A private family gathering will be held at a later date at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas where Penelope will be laid to rest along side her husband Charles.
