Obituary for Carol Martin Carol Martin, age 87, passed away in Marshall, Texas on Friday, June 29, 2018. He was born on August 23, 1930 in Gilmer, Texas to Johnny and Alma (Hudgins) Martin. A loving, caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by his daughter, Carol Hartt and husband, Mark Hartt; grandchildren, John Mark Hartt and wife, Amber Hartt; great-grandson, Mason Hartt, Scott Hartt and wife, Cynthia Hartt; great-granddaughter, Abigail Hartt.

Carol is also survived by his son, Allen Martin and wife, Amy Martin; grandson, Chris Martin and wife, Katie Martin; granddaughter, Heather Voelkel and husband, Colby Voelkel; great-grandchildren, Ellie Voelkel and Matthew Voelkel. Carol proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Korea and later worked as a lumber salesman for Snider Industries and retired as a Deputy from the Harrison County Sheriff’s office. Carol loved all sports, especially football and enjoyed attending local sporting events to support the community and his family.

Known as “Papa Carol”, he never missed a special birthday celebration and was known to patrol his neighborhood by golf cart in later years. A special thank you to his neighbors, his special friends and the Coffee Club for their love, friendship and support. Carol will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Carol’s honor to Marshall Homecare and Hospice or a charity of your choice. On-line condolences may be offered at www.
