Maggie was born on September 5, 1919 in Lexington, Kentucky and remained proud of her Kentucky roots. Maggie had no family and was raised in a children’s home in Newport, Kentucky.

She believed in the importance of education and graduated from Newport High School in 1938. Maggie was always grateful to NHS for the education she received. The ‘Commercial Course’ of study she pursued in school was utilized by Maggie for her entire working career.

In 1943, Maggie joined the U.S. Navy WAVES and served during WWII until 1946 in Miami, FL on several bases as a secretary, where she attained the rating of SKK (Storekeeper, First Class). After her discharge from the service, she came to Connecticut and was a member of the WAVES National Yankee Unit #42. While Maggie had no family, she did have many friends of long standing in Kentucky, Connecticut and Texas, visiting them faithfully.

Namely, Frank DeCorleto, Margaret Schwartz-Goodrich, Virginia Hampton, Howard Gaskins, Donald and Agnes Perrault all of who predeceased her. She was lovingly cared for by Donald and Ann Perrault of Farmington. All who knew Maggie appreciated her love for ladybugs and sunflowers, her cheerful smile, her sense of humor and her “Unsinkable Molly Brown” spirit.

Friends are invited to celebrate her life at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. , Wethersfield, on Thursday, October 4 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. in the chapel.
