Mark Charles Wilson, 48, left this world on Thursday, October 4, 2018. He was born on June 28, 1970, to Ronald and Wilma (Zeiger) Wilson of South Bend, Indiana. Previous to his passing, Mark requested that family assemble at his father’s home for a praise service which occurred on Wednesday evening, October 3.

At that time, the extended family shared memories, sang hymns, and prayed for Mark’s safe deliverance to heaven to rejoin his precious mother and other family waiting for him there. Mark resided in Lakeville, Indiana, with his family for the past 17 years. He is survived by his wife Lori (Hartman) Wilson, and sons Austin, Luke, Nicholis, and Joshua.

Mark is also survived by his father, Ronald Wilson (Cheryl) and brother, Steven Wilson (Karen) all of South Bend, and aunts, Bonita Laub and Brenda Martindale, both of Mishawaka, and Mardene Cook (Stephen) of South Bend. A graduate of Bethel College, Mishawaka, Indiana, Mark earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. As a wonderful advocate for the sick, Mark cared for those in need at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, for 22 years.

Through the years, countless people have approached family members with words of appreciation for Mark’s life-changing care which facilitated their return to quality health. His talent was a loving gift from God which he used to the fullest. In his spare time, Mark enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, and participating in various family activities and gatherings.

His devotion to work was primary, but he could often be found relishing the fact that three generations of family could golf together at Erskine. The Wilsons—Mark, his brother, father, sons, niece and nephew—had a running competition in which the losers bought the winner a steak dinner even though the loser was never required to pay up! Also, Mark was a long time volunteer coach at LaVille Elementary school where he coached all his children in soccer and football.

Mark loved coaching sports! The fact that he could coach his children was a great reward. A memorial service will be held at the North Liberty Church of Christ on Saturday, October 13th at 11:00am.

The family will receive friends starting at 10:00am prior to the service. Arrangements for the Wilson family are under the care and direction of the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend. Online condolences to the family may be sent to www.
