Mark Harold Nelson, age 68, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at his home in the arms of his wife. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 18, 2019 at 1pm in the chapel of the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield with the Reverend Jerry Wallace officiating. Honorary pallbearers are Billy Choate, Larry W. Thorpe, Tom Shillington, Don LeBlanc, Ric Potenz and Ted Stubblefield.

Visitation will be held Monday morning from 11am until the hour of service at 1pm. A reception immediately following the Memorial Service will be held at the Springfield First United Methodist Church. Mr. Nelson was born May 29, 1950 in Fargo, ND to the late Harold Leroy and Joan Schaible Nelson.

He was an IT Specialist at Deloitte and enjoyed being a part of the Willow Oak Cultural Arts Center. Mr. Nelson was a graduate of the University of North Dakota and held an MBA from Vanderbilt University. Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife, Martha Warner Nelson; step-sons, William Schiff of NC and Terry Schiff of NJ; daughter, Carly Nelson of Nashville; sisters, Judy (Jae) Nelson of Serafina, NM and Ginnie Nelson of Sante Fe, NM; the mother of his daughter, Carly, Connie Nelson; and 4 grandchildren.

If so desired memorial contributions may be made to Laundry Love of Springfield, Springfield United Methodist Church Choir or Willow Oak Cultural Arts Center. Any donations may be sent in c/o Austin & Bell. Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of these arrangements.
