Obituary for Mrs. Mary Jane Annette (Fava) Nicoletta UTICA – Mrs. Mary Jane (Fava) Nicoletta, age 87, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 2, 2018 when she passed away at Lutheran Care with her loving family by her side. Born in Utica on July 19, 1931, Mary Jane was the daughter of the late Ralph V. “Reily” and Antoinette (LaMantia) Fava. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School.

On February 3, 1951 she married Nicholas “Butch” Nicoletta with whom she shared 29 years in a loving union prior to his passing on May 20, 1980. During her working years, Mary Jane was employed at Lubere’s Corsetry Shop, the position from which she retired after 10 years of service. During her spare time, she enjoyed playing Bingo and visiting the casino.

But above all, she treasured her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish.

Mary Jane is survived by her children and their spouses, Frank and Patricia Nicoletta of Pennsylvania, Nicholas and Christina Nicoletta of Florida, Ronald Nicoletta of Texas, David and Mary Nicoletta of North Carolina, and Marla and Greg Golden of Oriskany. She was blessed to be a grandmother to 18 and great-grandmother to 24. She also leaves two brothers, Ralph K. Fava and Ronald B. Fava; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Delores A. and Fred Knapp. The family will honor and commemorate Mary Jane’s life at a private gathering. Funeral services and Interment in Calvary Cemetery will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.

The family would like to thank the staff and management of The Lutheran Home especially Melissa, Brandi, Georgetta, Amy, Theresa, and Michelle for the excellent care provided to our mother.
