Obituary for Mary Jo Commons (Martin) Mary Jo Commons, age 76, a lifelong Janesville resident, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 27, 2018 at her home. She was born December 12, 1941 in Janesville, the daughter of the late Kenneth J. & Norma A. (Schumacher) Martin. Mary Jo attended school in Janesville, and was a graduate of Janesville High School, Class of 1960.

On June 23, 1962 she married Robert C. Commons at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Janesville. Mary Jo loved reading, especially biographies of famous or interesting people. She also loved old movies.

In her earlier years she was a cross-country skier. Mary Jo loved dancing and watching dancing competitions and shows. She also loved line dancing!

Her greatest joy was her family, and she wouldn’t miss her grandchildren’s events and games. She also dearly loved her great-granddaughter, Nora Jo. Mary Jo was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bob; her 2 daughters, Cindi (Phil) Stearns, and Marj (Chris) Castillo, both of Beloit; her 4 grandchildren, Maddie (Tyler Satre) Stearns, Nolan (Keeley Jordan) Stearns, Devon Castillo, and Cortez Castillo; her beloved great-granddaughter, Nora Jo Satre; and by many friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her older sister, Kenlyn Martin. Funeral services with a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at ST.

PATRICK’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 315 Cherry St., with Fr. James Kuhn officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Monday at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, or from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday at the CHURCH.

Mary Jo’s family would like to extend their sincerest thanks and appreciation to the wonderful staff of Agrace Hospice, and especially to Carrie, Erin, Shannon, Kristi, and Tresa, for the care, compassion, and love shown to Mary Jo and her family during her final journey!
