Obituary for Jerry “Matt” Dillon Jerry “Matt” Dean Dillon, age 80 of Janesville, died peacefully on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at his home. He was born in Springview, NE on August 14, 1937, the son of the late Jonas J. and Ortha I. (Rix) Dillon. Jerry proudly served in the US Army from October 9, 1957 until he was honorably discharged on October 8, 1959.

He married Nona J. (Ash) Johnson on July 1, 1959 in Elroy, WI. Jerry worked as a supervisor for WITCO Chemical Corporation in Janesville, retiring after over 31 years of service. Jerry enjoyed deer, turkey, and goose hunting as well as fishing.

His favorite pastime was to play cribbage with his grandchildren, watching western movies, and working in his vegetable garden. He proudly supported the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. Jerry raised many dogs over the years that brought many years of happiness to his family; Diamond, Pal, Luke, Cody, Duke I, and Duke II, with Duke II surviving him.

He is survived by his wife Nona; and three children: Craig Johnson of Melbourne, FL, Micheal (Shirley) Johnson of Janesville, and Deb (Jerry) Gerber of Janesville; grandchildren who he was very proud of: Brian Johnson, Carrie (Don) Chesebro, Darren (Vicki Hruby) Johnson, Becky (Dave) Henke, Mike (Sarah) Gerber, Shelly Gerber, Brenda (Jason) Lochinger, and Brian Gerber; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; his sisters: Ellie Dillon, Bobbi Hempel, Judy (Orville) Hulshizer, and Milinda (Kenneth) Turpin; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter: Maureen “Pete” Johnson; and his siblings: Jack Dillon, Jonas Dillon Jr., Larry Dillon, Ruth Hulshizer and Marcella “Mick” Bartlett. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Whitcomb – Lynch Funeral Home, followed by Military Rites provided by VFW Kienow-Hilt Post 1621.

Visitation will be on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials would be greatly appreciated if they were made in Jerry’s name to, Agrace HospiceCare or the Salvation Army. A very warm and heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Agrace HospiceCare for the wonderful care and compassion given to Jerry and his family during his final journey!
