Mary’s Obituary Mary Palen, 56, of Minot, formerly of Mandan, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on March 21, 2019, at Trinity Hospital in Minot after a brief illness with influenza. Mary was born on January 24, 1963, in Mandan, ND, to George H. Rennich, Sr. and Kathleen (Berger) Rennich. She graduated from Mandan High School in 1981 and then attended hairstyling school after high school.

She married Dion Palen of Mandan on June 3, 1986. Dion served in the military and the couple lived in Germany and Colorado before moving back to ND and residing in Sawyer and Minot. Mary worked at the Minot Air Force Base, and for a company in Minot providing services and assistance to individuals with special needs.

She and Dion also ran a business selling bait and tackle. Mary had a wonderful spirit, a great sense of humor, and loved animals. She will be sorely missed by all her loved ones.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, George Rennich; her step-father, Harland Lanz; and a nephew, Jacob Rennich. She is survived by her husband, Dion of Minot; her mother, Kathleen Lanz, sister, Lynn (Kenneth) Weiand, and brother, George (Linda) Rennich of Mandan. Also, her brothers, David (Mary) Rennich and John Rennich of Bismarck.

Surviving relatives also include: parents-in-law, Larry and Karen Palen of Bismarck; sister-in-law, Wendy (Robert) Bohrer of Center, and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces. A memorial and viewing service will be held at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, 21 3rd Ave SW, in Minot ND, on Wednesday, March 27 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. There will be no formal funeral service.
