Maurine’s Obituary Maurine Dena Zietz was born December 13, 1929, in Lansford, ND, to Joseph and Dena (Mau) Zietz and joined her loving husband, LeRoy, in heaven on Tuesday, May 21, 2019. A service in honor of Maurine will be held Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare, where she was life-long member. As a young girl, Maurine developed a strong work ethic helping her family during and after the depression years.
After graduating from Tolley High School, she moved to Kenmare to work at the roller rink, where she met and fell in love with LeRoy. They were married November 12, 1950, in Tolley. Together, they raised Mark and Ann on the family farm near Kenmare.
Maurine and LeRoy were family farmers and raised small grains and cattle. The family of four had many good adventures camping, fishing and skiing. Maurine had a love for country living, gardening, physical hard work and helping others.
She also loved family traditions and made certain that at Christmas there was going to be a “skol” with Mogan David wine, an almond in the rice pudding and cooked red cabbage. After LeRoy passed away in 2007, Maurine continued to reside in Kenmare until moving to Somerset Court, Minot, in January 2017. Maurine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Family and faith were the center of Maurine’s life on earth. Maurine leaves behind her son, Mark (Tami) and grandsons Seth (Janae), Chad and Cole, and great-grandchildren Brandt and Blaire; daughter, Ann (David) Reich, and granddaughter, Kristen; her brother, Ernie (Shari) Mau; sisters-in-law, Inez Gravesen, Gert (Gary) Nelson, Thelma Zietz and Carol Zietz; and extended family. Maurine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy; infant son, Stephen; her brothers, Edwin and Herman Zietz; her sisters, Mae Elwell, Myrtle Hamel and Bettie Norrie; and brothers-in-law, Marvin and Floyd Gravesen; and sisters-in-law, Marion McDonald and Carol Byrd.
A special thank you to her wonderful family of friends, companions and prayer warriors from Somerset Court, First Light, and Trinity Hospice. You make our hearts full with your love and compassion. Maurine’s gentle smile, sparkling eyes, witty humor when least expected, and love for others will be greatly missed by many.
Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND. Visitation: Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers/gifts, Mark and Ann request that you pay your tribute forward and brighten the lives of others.
Such a gift, will put a twinkle in Maurine’s eyes.
