Max’s Obituary Max Dorris of the Ellard community passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Baptist Calhoun Nursing Center after an extended illness. Born on July 17, 1936 in Yalobusha County to Dossie Enoch Dorris and Eveleyn McKibben Dorris, Max was 82. A graduate of Ellard High School with the Class of 1955, Max also served in the Mississippi National Guard for 4 years.

A farmer and cattleman, Max enjoyed outdoor activities such as hunting and enjoying nature in general. He was a member of Ellard Baptist Church where, along with close family, he leaves behind many close friends to cherish the memories that he created and shared in his Eighty Two years on earth. He will be missed by many.

Max leaves behind his wife of over 63 years, Carolyn Edwards Dorris of Ellard; Sons, Keith (Shelley) Dorris of French Camp and Brian (Tommie Lyn) Dorris of Bruce; and Grandchildren, Katie (Jonathan) Crenshaw, Jessica (Casey) Simmons, K’Ann (Ben) Spears, Ashley (Mack) Williams, Grant Dorris, and Zane Dorris. There will be a visitation with the family on Thursday Evening, January 24, 2019 at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. A funeral honoring Max’s life will be held on Friday Afternoon, January 25, 2019 in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with services starting at 2:00pm.

Brother Kevin Chrestman will serve as officiant. Following funeral services, Max will be laid to rest that afternoon in Concord Cemetary. Serving the family as palbearers will be Jeff Bryant, Scott Collins, Matelon Ferguson, Benny Stewart, Billy Jack Stewart, and Troy Todd.

Max was preceded in death by his parents; and son Ken Dorris. Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce is honored to be entrusted by the family to help make arrangements honoring Max’s life.
