Reda’s Obituary Reda Franklin Bullard, longtime and current Mayor of Pittsboro, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. Born on October 3, 1950 to James Williams Franklin and Minnie Lou Doss in Vardaman, Reda was 68. A member of the graduating class of Bruce High School in 1968, Reda would soon thereafter begin a career where she dedicated her working life to providing public service to the residents of Calhoun County.

In addition to being elected consecutively since 1991 as Mayor of Pittsboro, Reda was retired after spending 37 years working in the Calhoun County Tax Assessor and Collection Office. Reda would divide her free time by spending time with her family, with the special joy of being with her Grandchildren. Other activities Reda enjoyed were being a member of Pittsboro Baptist Church and watching television shows on The Food Network, HGTV, and any network channel involving sports.

Along with her family and close friends, Reda will be missed by all of residents of Calhoun County who benefitted from her lifetime of dedicated public service. Reda leaves behind her Mother, Minnie Doss Franklin; Daughters, Emily Bullard of Pittsboro and Mary (P.K.) Edmonson of Vardaman; Son, Douglas (Lisa) Bullard of Calhoun City, Brothers, Jimmie (Nonie) Franklin of Pittsboro and Heath (DeeAnn) Franklin of Pittsboro; Grandchildren, Jamie (Jeremy) Criddle, Reed (Jodie) Gregory, Laura McGreger, Leon McGreger, Avery Bullard, Molly Edmonson, and Eli Edmonson; Sister-In-Laws, Ellen (E.J.) Spratlin of Hot Springs, AR and Hilda (Bob) Hill of Merigold; and Brother-In-Laws, Paul (Lavenia) Bullard of Brandon and Fred (Debbie) Bullard of Pittsboro. There will be a visitation with the family on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Pittsboro Baptist Church from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 pm.

Following visitation at 2:00 pm, a funeral service celebrating the life of Reda will be held at the church, with services and prayers led by, Brother Bob Hill and Brother Vincent Anderson. Following the funeral service, Reda will be laid to rest in Pittsboro Cemetery. Serving the family as Pallbearers will be John Crump, Gerald Hubbard, Keith Kellum, Charles D. Mahan, Bill Malone, and Keith Thacker.

Reda was preceded in death by her Father, James William Franklin; and Husband, Gayle Douglas Bullard, Sr. The family requests memorials be made to Pittsboro Baptist Church, 117 Murphree St. Pittsboro, MS. 38951 and to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-1942. Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce is honored to be entrusted by the family in helping to make arrangements honoring Reda’s life.
